I lifted my infant from the stroller as my 5-year-old scooted towards the far end of the bench swing. She reached up for him, as any big sister would.
Our handoff completed, I grabbed my phone to capture the moment.
“Want me to take one with you in it?”
Surprised, I turned to see an older version of myself. I smiled, nodding as she approached.
I handed over my phone, then positioned myself with my babies. Our photographer snapped a few pictures.
“Beautiful.”
Her eyes carried a blend of appreciation and approval, passed on to me along with my phone.
About Captured Moments
Recently, I participated in “Make It Small: A Micro-Essay Writing Workshop” with Molly Flinkman. This workshop was offered by Exhale, a community designed to “help “mothers create in the margins, together.” Exhale is a project by Coffee + Crumbs.
“Captured Moments” came from a 100-word micro-essay assignment and was inspired by my reflections on a simple yet memorable moment.
